What are the different types of cards Centtrip provides?
Your Centtrip account gives you access to both physical and virtual cards, available in two types: shared balance or prepaid. Each card type is designed to support different spending needs. Understanding how they work will help you manage funds more effectively.
Physical cards
- Standard plastic payment cards
- Can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Useable in-store and online
- Require activation via the app before first use
Virtual cards
- Function exactly like physical cards, but exist digitally only
- Currently available to EEA account holders
- Do not require activation
- Can be created and used instantly
How Funds Are Spent
Shared Balance Cards
- Draw directly from the shared balance in the Operating Account (like a debit card)
- No need to top up before spending
- Best for users who need ongoing access to centrally held funds
Prepaid Cards
- Separate from the shared balance
- Require manual top-ups before use (instant transfers possible via an administrator)
- Ideal for users with fixed budgets or controlled spending requirements
In all cases, card spending is limited by the Operating Account balance as well as any individual card limits set by administrators.
